10 Positive Affirmations That Got Me Through Tough Times

Alright guys, this post gets a little personal but it’s something that I wanted to write because it helped me and I hope it helps someone else.

Earlier this year, between January and February was tough. I was going through a personal issue that really was messing with my emotions and I just wasn’t happy to be completely honest. There was a lot going on that I didn’t understand, probably still don’t and I was just trying to figure things out. There were many nights where I cried myself to sleep but, I got up every morning unbothered and went about my business with a smile on my face. That being said, please be nice to everyone, seriously! You just never know what someone is going through and just a smile or a nice gesture can really brighten someones day. To distract myself, I kept busy with work, started working out (shoutout to Concrete Jungle in the Bronx), listened to a lot of music, thank you Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, JLO, Bad Bunny and many more artists LOL. I also spent a lot more time with my family and friends.

It wasn’t until March or so that I felt better, not 100%, but I was okay. Fun Fact, I started watching Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour on YouTube. One of my good friends sent me Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour interview with Jennifer Lopez. Now, you all know how much I love my girl JLO and after watching it, I felt so inspired. I watched it again earlier this week because I was feeling a bit stressed and one part really stuck to me this time around. Oprah asked JLO “what are some of your personal mantras?” Jennifer said, “I do a lot of different affirmations. I do, I'm open and receptive to all the goodness and abundance the universe has to offer. I am whole. I am good on my own. I love myself. I love you, Jennifer. I love the universe. The universe loves me. God loves me. I am useful and timeless at every age. I am enough.”

To be honest, that last part, “I am enough” was something I needed to hear. After watching the interview I thought about my own affirmations and I dug into my notes and just read them. Below are 10 affirmations that I live by that really helps boost my motivation, my spirit and brings me joy.
