A dynamic freelance journalist for digital and print, Mabel Martinez has worked for top publications in both English and Spanish. Most recently she was the Junior Copywriter for bareMinerals and previously held the Social Media and Communications Coordinator role for the nonprofit, Dress for Success. Prior to that, Mabel was a beauty writer for Glamour magazine’s sister publication Glam Belleza Latina before it folded in late 2015. She also served as Beauty Editor for Siempre Mujer magazine and before that as an Editorial Assistant at Parade magazine. Martinez even penned her own Spanish-language column “Hangeando con Mabel” for New York City’s daily newspaper El Diario La Prensa. Understanding the importance of internships, Martinez began her career at publications like Cosmopolitan for Latinas as an editorial intern and People magazine as an American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) intern. She also held the News Bureau Assistant position at People magazine after graduating from Long Island University - Brooklyn with a baccalaureate in Journalism and Media Arts. These days, Martinez is the Assistant Social Media Manager for Maybelline New York.
